Europe: WHY NOW? TRENDS NOT TO BE MISSED –Business Opportunity in a Changing Europe

IL SBDC International Trade Center at GSU and Chicago land Chamber of Commerce will co-host an export forum focusing on the Europe business opportunity. The forum will be held on May 10, 4:00pm -7:00pm with speaking program and cocktail reception. The event venue will be located at Mesirow Financial, 4th Floor 353 N. Clark Street, Chicago .

The panel speakers will highlight some of the current opportunities in Europe. Their topic range from legal considerations to investment operations, sales and marketing , market entry to export strategies.

Export Transportation Summit: Strategies for Soy & Agriculture Feb. 16, 2012

This Summit is part on a multi-month process to help the Illinois Soybean Association develop a strategic transportation plan.  This plan will focus on the following aspects: containerization, weight limits, transportation infrastructure, sustaining quality of the delivered product, and identifying efficiencies such as matching head hauls with back hauls for our members. The IL Soy would like you to share your perspectives to inform their plan.

Local residents are invited to an International Trade workshop scheduled on Wednesday, January 25th, 2012.  This evening program begins at 6 p.m. at the City of Markham, 16313 South Kedzie Parkway, Markham.  The program will be presented free to community members thanks to the sponsorship of the City of Markham.
This program will outline guidelines and resources available to help local businesses sell products and services to overseas markets.

Field Trip to Global Logistics Park – Nov 15, 2011

CenterPoint at GSU and IL International Trade Center are providing a free field trip on November 15, 2011.

Take advantage and visit one of the largest Inland port in the world, just a few miles away, here in Joliet. The trip is supported by Will County Center for Economic Development, CenterPoint Property and BNSF Rail Road.

US – China, International Trade Forum – Nov 14, 2011

US and China trade is a vital part of the US economy. China is the third-largest US export market. The IL International Trade Center at GSU and Governors State University will host a forum, “US-China, International Trade” on Nov 14, 2011 at 2:00-4:00pm.

This forum is a part of the series of events during Global Entrepreneurship Week and International Education Week, Nov 14-17.

Additionally, come and learn about Illinois’ new State Trade & Export Promotion (STEP), $1.26 million grant program and Illinois’ other export programs and services that are available to help your business grow. The event is free, and light refreshments will be provided.

AFRICA – Could this be a market for your business?

At  the World Economic Forum on Africa, held this year in Cape Town, speakers from Ernst & Young  talked about doing business in Africa.

Speaking to over 500 companies from around the world, as well as Africans  themselves, they discussed the growing attraction of doing business in the continent, and pointed to surveys showing how Africa is also becoming  increasingly attractive to investors.
